The learning objectives of this presentation are:

  • Understand the rapidly changing technology revolution in lighting solutions that enable the Internet of Things (IoT).
  • Understand how technology changes can be married with lighting and controls to enhance communication protocols.

DETAILS
Chris Ammon brings over 20 years of Electrical Industry experience. The first six years were spent working with consulting engineers and a design-build contractor, doing design and drafting work for building electrical systems. For the last 14 years, Chris has worked in the Controls and Lighting Sales industry with Lighting Control & Design and Acuity Brands. He specializes in designing building systems that meet owner expectations, comply with Energy Codes or Green Building standards and enhance the expectations and outcome of the project. In addition to specification and design, he has strong expertise in commissioning and training. Chris is currently working with Acuity to promote Total Solutions that incorporate Lighting, Controls, HVAC, Card Access and other systems. In addition to integrating the multiple systems he is responsible for enabling the controls to provide IoT (Internet of Things) integration to the end-users other systems or software applications.

WHAT
Please join us to celebrate the end of the Tidewater IES 2017-2018 season as we recognize the achievements of the members of the Tidewater Section of the IES as well as others in the Hampton Roads lighting community. Come out and socialize with your colleagues and peers as we celebrate another successful IES season. On this night we will install and/or confirm our new officers and board of managers for the coming year as well as acknowledge individuals who have made a considerable contribution to our society.

The officers and Board of Managers would like to thank all the members of the Tidewater Section of the IES and the members of the local lighting community for your participation and attendance in the monthly programs over the past year.

DETAILS
Your ticket price includes two drink tokens for use at the bar. Heavy hor d’oeuvres will be served throughout the evening. The dress is business casual.

WHO
This celebration is for members of the IES Tidewater section, their significant others, and those who have participated in this season of programming. Elevators to access the event are located towards the front of the main lobby of the Armada Hoffler Tower (fountain plaza side). You must go into the main lobby from the parking garage to access the elevator to the Town Center City Club. The Club is located on the second floor.

A group of industry leaders representing many facets of the lighting industry; Architects, Distributors, Engineers, Lighting Designers, Lighting Controls Specialists and Lighting Manufactures discuss the lighting design process, how best to improve the process, how best to interact with the other trades and other pertinent lighting industry topics.

We will be catering a BBQ dinner for the event.

This program is designed for industry professionals, facility managers, consultants, architects, interior designers, sales representatives, distributors, engineers, and lighting designers who are interested in gaining a better understanding of the lighting specification process. WHAT
Please join us for dinner and a presentation from Mr. Wolfgang Egger with Zumtobel Lighting on Human Centric Lighting.

Wolfgang is currently in charge of the Zumtobel Group‘s International Project team in the US, supporting US lighting designers, architects and engineers with specifications for projects outside the United States, primarily Middle East, Asia, Europe and South America. He has been with the Zumtobel group since 1979, starting at Zumtobel’s headquarters in Dornbirn Austria, heading the company‘s research and development team as well as the applications department.

He has been in the US since 1990 and has held several executive roles in Zumtobel’s North American operation in Marketing and Sales and was CEO of the company from 2000 to 2008. Wolfgang is a graduate of the Technical University of Vienna where he holds a Doctorate in Technical Physics.

DETAILS
Human Centric Lighting will explore how lighting in offices affects the well-being of people. We will study the current trends in work styles and office environments. In addition, we will improve our understanding of what constitutes the “best light for offices.” Concepts related to an ecosystem approach will also be discussed.
